This a great topic to write on. I get many employees from unionized environments in my workshops and many have their enthusiasm dampened by a system they perceive to be inflexible and not rewarding of performance.

It is true that unionized environments present their unique challenges just as non-unionized environments do. Listed below are 2 lies that these students are in danger of believing.

1) They can't deal with non performance.

2) This place will never change.

Both of these are lies. When we spend some time setting realistic expectations on performance and change management they tend to leave with a new approach and energy to their job & workplace.
While it is true that a unionized environment is not optimal for everyone ( it would not be for me). It can be a very rewarding environment in which to work.

I wish you every success with this piece. It is a needed knowledge piece in today's economy.
